The organization started out as an idea contemplated by our esteemed leader and founder, Ryan L. Friedman. He noticed that there was not one established group of people whose purpose was even vaguely related to facial hair. He noticed the need for such a society and, with the help of some close friends and family, formed the Organization for the Advancement of Facial Hair in September of 1996. To this very day, its membership has been ever increasing. While Ryan may have not envisioned so many persons interested in such a topic, he still encourages many others to join and hopes that it will prosper for many years to come.

Although Ryan has made many sacrifices for the organization, we mustn't forget Mr. Attilio Tribuzi, our administrative advisor. After all, it was actually he who gave Ryan the idea of founding such a group. Without his intellect, we wouldn't have even realized what we were missing. We do applaud Mr. Tribuzi and thank him for all the tremendous work he has done for the OAFH. His efforts have been most commendable and deserving.

MEMBERSHIP POLICY

To help promote equality among ourselves, we have adopted the following membership policy:

The Organization for the Advancement of Facial Hair shall not not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, medical condition, ancestry, marital status, citizenship, or sexual orientation. In accordance with our own personal beliefs, we do not discriminate on the basis of grade point average, standardized test scores, or intelligence. Any attempt to alter or modify this policy in any way shall result in immediate dismissal from the organization without appeal.

OAFH, having adopted this non-discriminatory membership policy from its birth, was able to gain the membership of over 50 persons just the very first day it was established. And it is still growing even to this day.
